The New Literature from Europe Festival returns to Scandinavia House this December. Featuring readings and discussions among leading and emerging literary voices from Europe, as well as some of America’s foremost writers and critics, the Festival celebrates important new European literature in translation.
Join masters of the short story Colin Barrett, Mihkel Mutt, and Immanuel Mifsud, along with award-winning American author Deobrah Eisenberg, as they discuss the challenges and rewards of their chosen form. How do you maintain a fresh voice in such a condensed framework? How does experience shape the art? Joining them as moderator is Benjamin Nugent, whose short stories have appeared in The Paris Review, Best American Short Stories, and Tin House, among others.
About the New Literature from Europe Festival
Founded in 2003, the New Literature from Europe (NLE) Festival has quickly become one of New York City’s top literature-in-translation events, attracting award-winning, best-selling, and new authors from many diverse European countries each year.
The NLE Festival is jointly organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and several New York-based European cultural institutes.
