About the DJ
“Music to make babies to” is just one way to describe the sound of Norwegian bass player and solo artist Maya Vik. Although the press have drawn comparisons to Prince, Janet, Sheila E, and Vanity 6, Vik lays down a fresh brand of sexy electronic funk pop with her steamy vocals and thumping bass lines
Years of hard work has paid off for Maya which includes winning a Norwegian “Grammy” with her previous band Montée, playing in Savoy with a-Ha’s Paul Waaktaar, opening for Lenny Kravitz, and touring the U.S., Japan, Russia, Holland, and Germany with her own trio. In 2007 Elle Magazine voted Vik the “Most Beautiful Woman in Norway.” After independently releasing more than two albums worth of critically acclaimed material in two short years, Vik currently is sitting on a trove of new jams set for release throughout 2014.
