Our popular Summer Jazz Series returns to Scandinavia House! This summer we’re presenting performances from some of Scandinavia’s most talented young jazz musicians, composers, and singers on Thursday evenings, June 7 through July 19. Join us for a reception on the Volvo Hall terrace starting at 6:30 PM, followed by the concert at 7 PM.

Helle Henning, a quartet featuring Danish vocalist and songwriter Helle Henning with musicians Simon Linnert on piano, Tony Scherr on bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums, explores and bridges the worlds of American jazz and new Nordic jazz folk music through intense musical expression. All songs are written by Henning.

“Helle Henning’s expression is timeless, yet very present in our era. It’s Nordic, melancholy and very jazzy…original and classy.” (Jazz News DK)

“Danish singer Helle Henning only recently started performing in the U.S. But as Americans become more familiar with this vibrant and innovative musician—and as Helle sings more in English—her presence in the U.S. will likely grow.” (All About Jazz)
