A stark and wintry landscape provides a beautiful backdrop for this tale of vengeance, which has equal parts Coen Brothers humor and Tarantino-style action. Introverted and hard-working snowplow driver Nils (Stellan Skarsgård) has just been named “Citizen of the Year,” when he receives news that his son has died of a heroin overdose. Disbelieving the official report, Nils soon uncovers evidence that his son was murdered as a result of a turf war between the local crime boss, known as “The Count,” and his Serbian rivals.

Armed with heavy machinery and a good dose of beginner’s luck, Nils embarks upon a quest for revenge that soon escalates into full-blown war, with the body count spiraling ever higher, and the laughs coming at the unlikeliest of moments.  Skarsgård give a top notch performance as the stoic, kind, everyman out for revenge, but Pål Sverre Hagan (Kon-Tiki) as The Count, subtly steals the show with his nuanced performance as the buffoonish mob boss.  Directed by Hans Petter Moland (Norway, 2016).
