A discussion of the photographer’s work with Bang Scholar Leise Johnsen follows the screening.

Directed by Jette Bang (Denmark, 1940). In 1938 Danish photographer Jette Bang journeyed across Melville Bay and up to Capek York in the district of Thule in Greenland.

Her trip resulted in the revealing color film Inuit and depicts the Inuit’s recent cultural history and way of life, which, shortly after the film’s creation, nearly disappeared.
