Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s international bestsellers, the riveting Department Q series introduces maverick detective Carl Mørck (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) who, after majorly botching an assignment, is relegated to reviewing cold cases. With his new partner Assad (Fares Fares) and secretary Rose (Johanne Louise Schmidt), the moody Mørck digs into shocking unsolved mysteries including the kidnapping of a high-ranking government official, a brutal prep school murder and a bloody message from two children presumed dead.

Chief detective Carl Mørck is assigned to the newly established Department Q, a department for old, terminated cases, where he is joined only by his new assistant Assad. Though Department Q has explicit orders to only read and sort through the cases, only a day passes before Carl runs across a case where the there’s more than meets the eye — the disappearance of female politician Merete Lynggaard, who vanished five years ago from a passenger ferry, last seen only by her mute, mentally disabled brother.

Though the case was initially written off as an apparent suicide, Carl and Assad are unconvinced, and before long are venturing on a journey that takes them deep into an undercurrent of abuse and malice. And as their investigation meets opposition from department officials who want the case to be left closed, the clock is ticking down on a successful resolution. Directed by Mikkel Nørgaard (Denmark 2013)

“A darkly compelling, skillfully crafted cold case thriller.”—The Los Angeles Times
