DESCRIPTION:Our popular Nordic Summer Jazz Series returns to Scandinavia House\, with performances from some of Scandinavia’s most talented jazz musicians\, composers\, and singers in Victor Borge Hall! \n\nOn June 18\, join us for a night of the past\, present\, and future as horn player Oskar Stenmark takes the stage. A 10th-generation musician originally from Gothenburg\, Sweden\, Oskar presents a journey where centuries of music and stories come together—thanks to his grandmother\, Elsie Börjes who has kept these traditions alive. Elsie went on tour in the U.S. (including New York City) with a group of fiddlers from Rättvik\, Dalecarlia\, back in 1956. Seventy years later\, the music is still going! From 1:00-4:30pm\, learn to craft traditional flower crowns using real florals\, make your own printed textile bandana\, add a wish to our community garland\, enjoy seasonal refreshments\, and create your own Swedish candy Pick-n-Mix! \nThis workshop is intended for children from ages one to ten.
