The New Literature from Europe Festival returns to Scandinavia House this December. Featuring readings and discussions among leading and emerging literary voices from Europe, as well as some of America’s foremost writers and critics, the Festival celebrates important new European literature in translation.

What happens when an author takes on the role of a journalist? As creators of fiction and fantasy, are authors trustworthy sources when they take on a non-fiction role? Moderated by the BBC’s Michael Maher, authors Susana Moreira Marques, Asle Skredderberget, and Matei Visniec consider this topic and draw on their own experiences occupying these very different roles.

About the The New Literature from Europe Festival

Founded in 2003, the New Literature from Europe (NLE) Festival has quickly become one of New York City’s top literature-in-translation events, attracting award-winning, best-selling, and new authors from many diverse European countries each year.

The NLE Festival is jointly organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and several New York-based European cultural institutes.
