The New Literature from Europe Festival returns to Scandinavia House this December. Featuring readings and discussions among leading and emerging literary voices from Europe, as well as some of America’s foremost writers and critics, the Festival celebrates important new European literature in translation.

Characters from books can make us laugh and cry. Some we carry around with us like trusted friends. Others feel closer to US than actual people WE have known. What is the secret to making characters come to life? Join Szczepan Twardoch, Asle Skredderberget, and Tommy Wieringa, and New York Times bestseller, Elizabeth Flock as they describe to moderator Ross Uberg (co-founder of New Vessel Press) how they create unforgettable characters.
