The Core of the Sun by Johanna Sinisalo

Johanna Sinisalo’s The Core of the Sun (Grove Atlantic, January 2016) is set in an alternative historical present in which a young Finnish woman’s growing addiction to illegal chili peppers leads her on an adventure into a world where love, sex, and free will are controlled by the state. Sinisalo’s tautly told story is a witty, inventive, and fiendishly engaging read.

Copies of The Core of the Sun are available to purchase in the Shop at Scandinavia House.
