Read and discuss Scandinavian literature in translation as part of our Nordic Book Club, now online! Each month we select a novel from some of the best Nordic literary voices. Discussions have typically taken place the last Tuesday of the month at Scandinavia House but will now be taking place bi-weekly as an online meeting. On June 9, we’re reading Professor Andersen’s Night by Dag Solstad, originally scheduled to take place this past March. In this existential murder mystery, 55-year-old professor Pål Andersen is alone one Christmas Eve in his living room, drinking cognac, when he witnesses a man strangling a woman in an apartment across the street. Rather than reporting the crime, he becomes paralyzed by his indecision, setting off an unsettling reexamination of his own derailed life.
