In her early seventies, Elín Jónsdóttir is living an isolated existence in Reykjavík, making props and prosthetics for theatrical productions and crime films. When she becomes involved in a production by the sensitive young playwright Ellen Álfsdóttir — another loner, and the illegitimate daughter of a famous writer — she becomes increasingly fascinated by her, while also finding herself stirred by discomfiting memories long packed away. Their paths have crossed before: but one doesn’t remember, and the other is about to forget.
