INTERN SPOTLIGHT: HAMPUS SAHLIN WIKSTRÖM

Meet Hampus Sahlin Wikström — one of the recent arrivals to the U.S. in ASF’s Internship & Training program!

Hampus is a master’s student in Industrial Design Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, who is originally from northern Sweden. This past November, he began an internship at Monte Stott & Associates, Inc. in San Francisco, CA. Here’s what Hampus recently shared with us about his experience:

“Hi, my name is Hampus. As an intern for Monte Stott & Associates, a civil engineering company in San Francisco, a typical daily task is going out to a project, measuring up a building, then go back to the office to draft it up and send out to the client. Here you can see me in a plaid shirt (a must for a civil engineer) by my desk that’s covered in drawings, calculations for structural strengthening, and documents of the current project we’re working on!”

Hampus’s internship will conclude in June, at which point he will return to Chalmers, where he is slated to graduate in 2028. We’re excited to see what he does next!

The American-Scandinavian Foundation’s Exchange Visitor (J visa) Program, designated by the U.S. Department of State, enables Nordic students and professionals to receive practical on-the-job experience in the U.S., while growing professionally and personally through immersion in American business and community life. The program is tied to ASF’s ongoing mission to promote firsthand exchange of intellectual and creative influence between the U.S. and Nordic countries.
