FELTED NESTING BOWLS | WORKSHOP WITH HILARY SNELL

September 17—5:30 pm7:30 pm

Create your own felted nesting bowls in this workshop series led by Scandinavia House’s veteran knitter Hilary Snell!

In this 4-part series, participants will learn how to cast on and knit in the round on double pointed needles to make a small, knitted bowl. The first class will focus on the basics of how to use double pointed needles, and the following classes will be spent following a simple pattern. Once the knitting is done, students will take the bowls home to wash and felt them into household art!

Materials needed:

• 1-2 skeins of Cascade 220 yarn (2 skeins are necessary for a contrast stripe on the bowl; if not, just 1 skein will do). Whatever yarn you buy, it must be 100% wool, worsted or thicker.

• A set of No. 10 US double pointed needles (dpns)

Students must feel very comfortable knitting and be willing to stretch into a new skill using double pointed needles. Skills required: casting on, knitting, decreasing stitches, casting off. Please note: this series cannot be taken as individual sessions and is best experienced as four progressive classes.
