Join us on February 19 for our second installment of a special concert series celebrating 25 years of Music on Park Avenue, the acclaimed performance series curated by Swedish pianist Per Tengstrand that has been with Scandinavia House since its inauguration in 2000. In honor of Scandinavia House’s silver anniversary, Tengstrand presents a program of chamber music performances featuring distinguished guest musicians that continues into spring of 2026.
For the second performance, Tengstrand will present Franz Schubert’s final Piano Sonata in B-flat major D.960, as well as other iconic arrangements from the composer.
Written two months before his death, the B-flat Sonata (D. 960) is one of Schubert’s most heavenly creations, with a slow movement that is one of the most profoundly beautiful piano pieces you will ever hear. Also on the program, Beethoven’s beloved “Pathetique” Sonata and the incredible piano version by Ferruccio Busoni of Bach’s masterpiece for solo violin, the Chaconne in D minor.
Thanks to a generous loan by Victor Borge’s grandson Finn, concerts will be performed on Victor Borge’s personal Steinway piano.
