SAT—November 28—1 PM ET (10 AM PT)

On Saturday, November 28, celebrate the 75th anniversary of Pippi Longstocking with a live, digital performance that takes you on an an immersive theatrical adaptation! Scandinavia House and Scandinavian American Theater Company invite you to a live play reading of Pippi Longstocking, a story that introduced the most iconic character of the celebrated Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. Since the first publication of Pippi Longstocking in 1945, Pippi has become one of the most timeless and beloved characters of children’s literature, having been translated into 77 languages and spanning several film and television adaptations.

In this reading of the story that started it all, spend a Saturday afternoon with Pippi Longstocking, an uncommonly strong and free-spirited nine-year old girl, who moves into an abandoned villa with her horse and pet monkey, Mr. Nilsson.

Without a mother and with an absent, sea-faring pirate father, Pippi soon befriends the neighbor’s children, Tommy and Annika, and they go on many adventures together.

Before and after the reading, you are encouraged to throw your own Pippi Party, with fun role-playing games, conversations about  friendship, and lessons on how to be a “turnupstuffer” by making your own scavenger hunt! Click here to download a fun activity guide for audiences of all ages and strengths.
