On October 21, see a live showcase of some of the most prominent New York-based Finnish singer-songwriters at Scandinavia House! In tonight’s program co-hosted with Finlandia Foundation New York – Metropolitan Chapter, artists Jonna, Petra Jasmiina, Ida Metsberg, Johanna Telander and Eeppi Ursin will perform works from their thriving careers as recording artists, composers, and performers.

The second volume of this event features Jonna, whose music was the first to combine American-influenced pop R&B sounds with Finnish lyrics, and whose groundbreaking three albums with Sony Music paved the way for many Finnish pop artists to come. Petra Jasmiina’s music, spanning pop, folk and electronica, is rooted in telling stories that inspire people to feel deeply and to dream out loud; her latest single “Naïve” is both her self-produced debut and the first release off of her upcoming full-length album. Ida Metsberg’s musical theater background seeps into her songwriting with her storytelling lyrics and musical journeys. Her first EP Somebody New will be released in September 2022, and she is currently planning her North American tour.

Johanna Telander is perhaps best known for Kalevala the Musical, for which she wrote the music, book, and lyrics. The musical released a highly anticipated original concept album this summer, starring a stellar cast of Broadway performers including Ramin Karimloo and Julia Murney. Eeppi Ursin is a multi-awarded vocalist who just released her fourth studio album Speechless; she has been named Performer of the Year 2022 by Finlandia Foundation National, touring all over the U.S.

Tickets to this event must be purchased in advance online at the link above.

This program is co-hosted by Finlandia Foundation New York – Metropolitan Chapter.
