In the Spring 2018 Curtis L. Carlson Distinguished Lecture at Scandinavia House, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland, joins us on May 9 for a conversation on Icelandic film, family, and football. The Curtis L. Carlson Distinguished Lecture Series was created by the Carlson Family Foundation to support public discourse on issues and topics of particular relevance to the people of the United States and the Nordic nations.

Following the lecture and a Q&A, we will be hosting a private screening of the film The Falcons /Víti í Vestmannaeyjum, directed by Bragi Thor Hinriksson (Iceland, 2018). Every year, a major football tournament for kids takes place in the Westman Islands, off the south coast of Iceland. This year, ten-year-old Jón, who is competing at the event with his team, will have to grow up faster than he expected, both on and off the pitch.
