On October 16, as part of a day-long Celebration of Louis Kahn 120 in New York presented with Archtober, learn about the celebrated Estonian-born architect’s work as an educator! In this lively conversation with Kahn’s student Charles E. Dagit Jr. hosted by award-winning journalist Neeme Raud, we’ll take a close look at the important role Louis Kahn had as a teacher, in a talk presented at Scandinavia House in Volvo Hall. The talk will also celebrate Dagit Jr.’s commemorative book Louis I. Kahn—Architect, which has recently been translated into the Estonian language.

About the Speaker
Charles Dagit Jr. founded Dagit•Saylor Architects and won over 60 Design Awards including the Gold and Silver Medals for design from AIA Pennsylvania and AIA Philadelphia. In 1976 Robert A.M. Stern named him one of the “40 Under 40 American Architects” in A+U Magazine. In 1983 he was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, the youngest architect to that time to be honored as an AIA Fellow.
Dagit’s work has been published in international design magazines including; Architectural Record, L’Architecture d’Aujourd’Hui, The Japan Architect, L’Industria delle Construzioni, and many others.
About the Moderator
Neeme Raud is a long-time and distinguished Estonian journalist, news anchor and international correspondent. He has worked for TV, Radio and print media in the US, Russia, and Estonia including The Voice of America. He also frequently hosts and moderates international conferences and newsmaker events.
Raud graduated summa cum laude from the New York University with a B.A. in Social Sciences and received his Master of Foreign Affairs degree from Columbia University, New York. Raud is a recipient of Valgetähe Teenetemärk (White Star Orden) IV Class from the President of Estonia.
