The long history of Faroese cinema has only seen a handful of feature films. However, in recent years a creative pool of filmmakers has established itself to build a stronger, more dynamic voice in the Faroese cinematic community. This screening highlights these Faroese filmmakers and their work.

Directed by Andrias Høgenni, 2015. Two young women are preparing for a big night out. Only a few last things remain, but a question regarding hair turns into a giant divide within this female friendship. Winner of Geytin 2015 for Best Faroese Short Film.

Directed by Heiðrik á Heygum, 2015. A guilt-ridden taxi driver (Klæmint Henningson Isaksen) takes a desperate passenger (Kristina Sundar Hansen) to her destination. On the journey their fates collide and they both realize that they have to make a final sacrifice in order to be redeemed.

Directed by Heiðrik á Heygum, 2014. In 1961, Andrea (Sofía Nolsøe) works as a nurse for a dying woman (Rúna á Heygum) on a remote island in the Faroe Islands. She carries a great sadness that she’s trying to forget. When strange things start happening in the old house, the realms of the living and the dead become intertwined. She realizes that no one can escape their past. Winner of Geytin 2014 for Best Faroese Short Film.
