SUMMER JAZZSeries

MoreConcerts

Our popular Summer Jazz Series returns to Scandinavia House! This summer we’re presenting performances from some of Scandinavia’s most talented young jazz musicians, composers, and singers on Thursday evenings in June and July.  On June 15, see Sara Magnusdottir Trio featuring jazz pianist, organist and composer Sara Magnusdottir, with Marlen Suero-Amparo (drums) and Clayton Thompson (upright bass).

An up-and-coming musician from Iceland, Sara Magnusdottir has been an active performer in the Icelandic jazz music scene, performing at Reykjavik Jazz Festival and Icelandic Airwaves Festival.

About Sara Magnusdottir

Based in the U.S. since 2019, where she studied jazz at William Paterson University in Fort Wayne, NJ, she has done work as an arranger and received commissions and grants for her big band writing, and performs with her own trio and quartet compositions regularly at various venues. In her music, Sara values the melodic element above all, combining modern and traditional harmonies with her core influence of Nordic folk music.
