See The Quiet Migration (dir. Malene Choi, Denmark, 2023), a new Danish drama about an adopted South Korean Dane’s struggle to come into his own, on April 24 at Scandinavia House!

Carl, 19, lives a quiet life in the Danish countryside with his adoptive parents, who expect him to take over the family farm one day. But as an adopted child from South Korea, Carl carries a secret longing to explore his roots and find his own place in life. Torn between two worlds, Carl must make a choice about where he belongs. The Quiet Migration is a thoughtful coming-of-age story about adolescents facing racism from their own families, set against the backdrop of a society where immigration has become a divisive issue.

Malene Choi was born in 1973 in South Korea. She is a director and cinematographer, known for The Return (2018), The Quiet Migration (2023) and Dyret (2011).
