SAT—February 6—2 PM ET

*The YouTube Premiere will air at 2 PM on Saturday, February 6. Please check back for the Facebook Premiere link the week of February 1.*

Join us on Saturday, February 6 at 2 PM ET for a Virtual Studio Visit with the artist Shoplifter in Reykjavik, Iceland, to hear about her latest projects! One of Iceland’s leading contemporary artists Shoplifter (Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir) represented the country at the Venice Biennale in 2019, and her installation Chromo Sapiens opened at the Icelandic Pavilion in May 2019 in Venice, Italy, before later traveling to the Reykjavik Art Museum in January 2020. Working with both synthetic and natural hair, her genre-bending sculptures, wall murals, and site-specific installations explore themes of vanity, self-image, fashion, beauty, and popular myth. In today’s program, tune in to hear how color, hair, and humor inspire Shoplifter’s immersive, tactile, and kaleidoscopic art!

This event is the third in a series of Virtual Studio Tours from Scandinavia House. See the first tour with Pekka and Teija Isorättyä here, and see the second tour with Camilla Vuorenmaa here.

The program will take place as a Virtual Premiere on both Facebook and YouTube; set reminders at the links on either platform to watch and chat with us during the program.
