Visit Scandinavia House Thursday, May 26 for a preview of  Denmark’s newest music festival, New Music for Strings taking place in Aarhus, Denmark in August 2016.  New Music for Strings creates an interdisciplinary space between the fields of string instrument performance and composition, as well as between American and Scandinavian traditions. Featuring members of the Emerson String Quartet in collaboration with outstanding young Scandinavian and American string players, performing works that represent the pinnacles of contemporary string repertoire, with special emphasis on Scandinavian and American traditions.

New Music for Strings features Philip Setzer, Eugene Drucker (both are members of the Emerson String Quartet) and Anne Sophie Andersen on violin. Also performing are Alicia Valoti on viola, cellist Antonio Hallongren, and pianist Andrea Christie.

Judith Lochhead, Professor of Music History & Theory at Stony Brook University, will introduce the concert.
