Our popular Summer Jazz Series returns to Scandinavia House! This summer we’re presenting performances from some of Scandinavia’s most talented young jazz musicians, composers, and singers from June 20 through July 11. Join us for a reception on the Volvo Hall terrace starting at 7 PM, followed by the concert at 7:30 PM.

Norwegian guitarist and composer Jostein Gulbrandsen joins us with Mike McGuirk (bass) and Ronen Itzik (drums). Known for a melodic style that is also complex and harmonically rich, Gulbrandsen blends Scandinavian heritage with American jazz and blues.

The trio will be performing compositions including hits off his recent third album Looking Ahead, described as “a quiet anthem for a noisy world, one that folds itself like a treasured article of clothing to be tucked away for a special occasion” (All About Jazz).

“Gulbrandsen’s music is to the point, revealing tasteful moments where there’s no necessity of camouflaging his numerous influences.”—JazzTrail
