“Gripping…with remarkable access”—On March 25, Scandinavia House presents a special screening of the harrowing political documentary Facing War!
With a unique inside look at NATO’s leadership at the brink of geopolitical crisis, Facing War follows the day-to-day tenure of Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as he nears retirement. As Russia’s war in Ukraine rages on, then U.S. President Joe Biden persuades Stoltenberg to extend his tenure as NATO Secretary General for one final year. During a visit to Kyiv, Stoltenberg vows that the Alliance will stand by Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” But as Western support falters and divisions among allies deepen, this promise is increasingly at risk. With NATO decisions requiring unanimous approval, Stoltenberg must navigate conflicts and rally member nations behind him.
With unprecedented access to NATO’s inner sanctum, Facing War takes viewers inside the high-stakes power struggles between global leaders like Biden, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The film chronicles the delicate art of diplomacy in a time when safety and democracy are at stake, asking the question on everyone’s mind: can Stoltenberg keep his promise?
