90 min. In Norwegian with English subtitles.

Petter Primus is a man with big plans, but things rarely turn out the way he hopes. At risk of losing both his hotel and family, he gets an idea that will save it all: he converts the hotel into a refugee asylum center, despite his general skepticism toward foreigners.

But when the first bus loaded with asylum seekers arrives at his shabby hotel the challenges begin. Fifty freezing refugees, one over-enthusiastic African, the Norwegian Director of Immigration, a depressed wife, and a teenage daughter quickly become more than he can handle. Directed by Rune Denstad Langlo (Norway, 2016).

“One of the best comedies Norway has produced.”—Cinema Scandinavia

“The third feature from Norwegian helmer Rune Denstad Langlo (“North”) brings levity to a serious, highly topical subject as it spins a tale about a lovable loser who tries to convert his family’s failing mountaintop hotel into a state-supported refugee reception center.”—Variety

About the director

Rune Denstad Langlo is a Norwegian director and writer with a background in documentaries. Some of his earliest titles are the documentary series Too Much Norway (2005) and the feature length documentary 99% Honest (2008). Rune’s first feature film North (2009) won the Critic’s Award in Berlinale Panorama in 2009, the same year as Langlo was voted ”Best Emerging Filmmaker” at the Tribeca Film Festival.

His second feature film Chasing the Wind (2013) received great reviews and screened at festivals throughout the world. In recent years he has mastered most genres, and his latest accomplishments have been the short film Foul (2014) and the drama series Acquitted (2014), co-directed with Geir Henning Hopland.
