THE GROUND BENEATH OUR FEET + HALT UM MEG + ALWAYS MOVING | WEST NORDIC FILM DAYS

October 11—2:00 pm5:00 pm

Join us this fall for the festival West Nordic Film Days, a celebration of cinema from Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands! Screenings take place in Victor Borge Hall from October 9-11 and will include a range of acclaimed recent feature films, documentaries and shorts. Curated by Birgir Thor Møller, the selection of films at West Nordic Film Days reflects the current development and tendencies in West Nordic cinema as well as the diversity, combining films by prolific, prizewinning directors and upcoming filmmakers, who all live in and tell their stories from very different parts of the region.

Our closing day on Saturday, October 11 will include screenings of the Icelandic feature film The Ground Beneath Our Feet (Jörðin undir fótum okkar, dir. Yrsa Roca Fannberg, 2025), followed by the Faroese short film Halt um Meg (Hold Me, 2025, dir. Maria Winther Olsen) and the Greenlandic short film Always Moving (dir. Alberte Parnuuna, 2026).

In the Icelandic documentary feature The Ground Beneath Our Feet, a group of elderly people living together in a grand old building in Reykjavík reflect on their centuries of life, interwoven through the meditative practice of their daily routines. The Geytin award-winning short film Halt um Meg explores the profound themes of grief, intimacy, and human connection within the backdrop of a nighttime conversation between two strangers in a bar. Always Moving is an abstract, animated reflection on our urge to constantly stay in motion.
